A BILL to amend article one, chapter thirty of the code of West
Virginia, one thousand nine hundred thirty-one, as amended, by
adding thereto a new section, designated section seventeen,
relating to licensed health care providers generally and
prohibiting a licensed health care provider from accepting,
with the exception of medications which are given to patients,
a gift with a value of more than twenty-five dollars from a
pharmaceutical company.
Be it enacted by the Legislature of West Virginia:

That article one, chapter thirty of the code of West
Virginia, one thousand nine hundred thirty-one, as amended, be
amended by adding thereto a new section, designated section seventeen, to read as follows:
ARTICLE 1. GENERAL PROVISIONS APPLICABLE TO ALL STATE BOARDS OF
EXAMINATION OR REGISTRATION REFERRED TO IN CHAPTER.
§30-1-17. Gifts to licensed health care providers prohibited.

A licensed health care provider may not accept, with the
exception of medications which are duly prescribed and given to
patients, a gift with a value of more than twenty-five dollars from
a pharmaceutical company.

NOTE: The purpose of this bill is to prohibit health care
providers from accepting gifts with a value of more than $25 from
a pharmaceutical company.
